Lymm Truckwash hosted a Covid-19 compliant celebration of the industry’s ‘HGV Heroes’ this week, as part of the RHA’s National Lorry Week.

The open day was supported by D4Drivers, Goodyear, Maple Fleet, Snap and Washtec among others and promoted the work of essential workers in the logistics industry.

Truckwash MD Laura Cardwell said: “We took extra precautions to ensure Covid-19 guidelines were adhered to, including carrying out a risk assessment, displaying track and trace QR codes and employing an events manager to ensure social distancing rules were adhered to.

“The event took place outside, with restricted numbers and as trucks were getting washed as usual drivers didn’t even need to leave their cabins.”

Lymm Truckwash has remained open throughout the pandemic as an essential service to the supply chain and Cardwell played a vital part in relaying to the government the facilities that drivers needed.

She said: “We are not just a truckwash, we offer a warm welcome, support and great service to our drivers.

“We’re so glad we could support National Lorry Week, it’s a fantastic opportunity to show our appreciation to the logistic workforce who transport and deliver 98% of our essential goods and have continued to work throughout the pandemic and multiple regional and national lockdowns.”

RHA chief executive Richard Burnett said: “National Lorry Week showcases the vital role the road transport industry plays in our everyday lives and the team at Lymm Truckwash are always supportive of the RHA and the industry as a whole.

“Laura and the team have played a vital part in helping drivers throughout the year so it was great to see everyone come together to show their appreciation for the logistics industry and essential workers.”

The Cheshire truckwashing site has kept its visiting drivers refreshed with free beverages, biscuits and ice cream this year, as a thank you for the service they’ve provided the country.
