Logistics firm Davies Turner has leapt 42 places to 119th position in the latest Sunday Times PwC Top Track 250 league table.

The league, which is sponsored by PwC and Lloyds Bank, tracks and ranks Britain's leading mid-market private companies with the biggest sales.

Davies Turner, which has its headquarters in London, specialises in road, sea and air transportation. It has 23 branches across the UK, 1.6m sq ft of warehousing and employs over 800 staff.

Chairman Philip Stephenson said: “This significant improvement in our ranking recognises not only our strong financial performance but the importance of our continuing focus on responding to ever-evolving customer needs and developing our service portfolio and overseas network.

“As mid-market private businesses, Top Track 250 companies are an important engine of the UK economy and this year’s cohort had combined sales of almost £60bn. These companies are predominantly owned by entrepreneurs, private equity firms and family holdings. It’s a prestigious club to be in.”

He added: “There will be more innovations and more progress to come as we develop our network and systems to help clients old and new with the management of their supply chains in combatting the effects of Covid-19.

“At the same time our teams are maintaining preparedness, recruitment and training for the end of the Brexit transition period on 31 December 2020.”
