Tuffnells said it was “ready to face any challenges” after shaking up its fleet strategy by employing a mix of funding methods.

The delivery company has expanded its partnership with Enterprise Flex-E-Rent to cover HGVs on both rental and contract hire, which it claimed would give it maximum flexibility.

The move is part of a plan to use a range of funding and fleet acquisition methods, including ownership, leasing and rental.

The company has recently taken 21 new 7.5-tonne trucks on a six-year contract hire agreement, extending the existing 170 HGVs and 20 delivery vans it has from Enterprise on a flexible rental programme.

They include Euro-6 DAF FALF-180 with rigid chassis cabs, including a tuck-away tail lifts.

Simon Parsons, Tuffnells services director, said it worked with Enterprise to prioritise flexibility. “It means we can rapidly scale up or down as demand changes, it’s easier to handle maintenance, and we get fast access to replacement vehicles at a moment’s notice,” he said.
