Drivers for Whistl have been recognised for their heroic work during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The company’s employees were designated as key workers during the lockdown due to the work they do collecting and processing mail and parcels for deliveries around the UK.
After being approached by the RHA to nominate its ‘HGV Heroes’, the company put forward drivers John Thomson and Fraser Hickman in Glasgow and Bryn Williams, David Bareford, Piotr Lipinski, Vincent Ambridge, John Welbourne and Karim Meridji in Beford.
Whistl said reasons for the employees’ nominations included going above and beyond in order to fulfil customer requirements; high levels of professionalism; working tirelessly and being great ambassadors.

The RHA’s HGV Heroes campaign was set up during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic to recognise the industry’s workers and the job they do.
It celebrates anyone working in the sector who has gone the extra mile to keep the nation fed and protected during the pandemic.
Each entry will receive an HGV Hero ‘thank you’ certificate.
The RHA said one nominee will then be chosen at random for an additional prize.
Nick Wells, Whistl chief executive said: “We are pleased that the key worker status of the delivery industry has been recognised by these awards. Our transport team are an integral part of the business and it is important that they are recognised as the HGV Heroes they are.”
