Transport for London (TfL) has given Fleet Source the go-ahead to deliver FORS-funded training on road safety and environmental responsibility during lockdown. Fleet Source, which provides FORS professional driver training, will deliver the theory element of its Safe Urban Driving, Van Smart and LoCity training courses. It will schedule on-cycle practical training post-lockdown once social distancing measures are eased. Proposed changes to the Highway Code, which include guidance on how smart motorways operate, have been criticised by the widow of a man killed by an HGV on the M1.
Food and drink logistics services provider Culina Logistics has revealed plans to fit out its entire fleet of around 400 trucks with forward facing cameras and remote speeding alerts. The operator will also install a trailer tracking system on almost 1,000 trailers. Both measures are subject to a successful trial of the respective systems that will get underway in August.
