Suttons tanker

Suttons Tankers has won a major new contract with hydrocarbon product supplier Haltermann Carless after impressing the company with its safety processes, reliability and operational scale.

The logistics firm, which is part of Suttons Group, will transport gas condensate from Spirit Energy’s Barrow Gas Terminal in Cumbria to Haltermann Carless’ facility in Harwich.

The deal - which the company describes as “significant” - will see the company use its network of depots to deliver an inter-depot night trunking service to cut costs and drive efficiencies.

The contract strengthens Suttons Tankers existing partnership with Haltermann Carless, which involves the transportation of other products for the company.

Suttons Tankers’ bid to win the contract was also helped by its existing relationship with Spirit Energy - which is a customer of Haltermann Carless – through its role advising the company on best practice procedures for vehicle equipment and specification.

Haltermann Carless was also impressed with Suttons Tankers ability to ensure a safe working environment for appropriate road loading using its own DGSA qualified staff, including fleet engineer Steve Eggleston and SSHEQ manager Dave Ashton.

Michael Cundy, Suttons Tankers MD, said: “We look forward to strengthening our relationship with Haltermann Carless by providing them with an efficient and cost-reducing delivery solution.

“This significant contract win for the Tanker Division builds upon our strategy of articulating our strengths in added value-based solutions.”

Steve Richardson, UK head of logistics at Haltermann Carless, said: “We are delighted to be working with Suttons on this contract. The safe delivery of our material is of utmost importance to us and Suttons’ track record and commitment to safety made them the ideal partner for this contract.

“Due to the nature of Spirit Energy’s gas field operation, reliability of the transport service is crucial and the scale and infrastructure that Suttons offers assures us that we can meet the needs of the business.”
