Jigsaw has adapted its strategy and adjusted its operational model to ensure delays are reduced and products are reaching retailers on time during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The EV Cargo company said it was bypassing distribution centres, many of which were bottle-necked, and was delivering food and drink direct to major supermarkets instead.

It has also secured urgent additional capacity as peak volumes rose to Christmas activity levels.

And it said that it had provided flexibility and agility despite 70% of its employees working from home.

Andy Humpherson, Jigsaw MD, said its strategy had been adapted according to consumer buying patterns and demand: “We’re lucky to have robust systems underpinned by the flexibility and connectivity to quickly adapt and introduce new solutions,” he said.

“Food and beverage volumes have been extremely high in March but obviously that’s going to drop off during April and we will be ready to respond again.”
