The Reed Boardall Group has defied rising costs and fierce competition in the transport sector to deliver a 13% rise in underlying pre-tax profit. United Pallet Network member DBL Logistics has secured £1.8m of funding from HSBC to expand the business with a new 50,000ft² Sheffield DC. Due for completion in January 2013, the new site will run in tandem with DBL’s existing 25,000ft² facility in the Sheffield Business Park, and the company hopes additional volumes will boost its annual turnover, currently £3m per year. Ambitious Bradford-based operator Advanced Supply Chain has launched a consultancy service offering logistics advice to SMEs. The operator, which has predicted a turnover of £100m within five years, is targeting the new Consultancy Plus service at smaller businesses.
