CEVA Logistics has been awarded a multi-year contract to provide regional services to bathroom giant Ideal Standard.

As part of the deal, CEVA will operate a 17,375 sq m regional distribution centre located in Bielany Wroclawskie in south western Poland which can handle up to 150,000 pallets per annum.

From there, CEVA will manage all warehouse and transport processes for the manufacturer in central and northern Europe, including supplying the distribution centre from European factories and coordinating deliveries to final customers in Poland, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Slovakia, Luxembourg, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Belgium and the Netherlands.

The joint teams from CEVA Logistics and Ideal Standard have held a number of project meetings to develop the operational documentation, the layout of the warehouse and the purchasing and installation processes which would be used in Poland.

They have also conducted recruitment, training, and administrative processes, including supervision of the design of the office and welfare space equipment.

CEVA will deploy its WMS Matrix system and is also evaluating the use of drones, robots and other innovations to support administrative and warehouse processes inside the facility.

The project has been implemented using CEVA's Zero Defect Start-Up methodology and the company regards it as one of the most innovative projects it has ever undertaken in the area.

The highest safety standards have also been implemented on site, CEVA said, which means zero accidents at work, as well as a program to engage employees in a safe working environment.

Commented Guillaume Sauzedde, CEVA's MD Central & Eastern Europe: “The Zero Defect Start-Up methodology ensured that a team of experts was set up in specific areas to oversee the customer's precise needs and requirements. The aim of using ZDS was to flawlessly implement the project, maintain budgetary discipline and guarantee the highest quality of service after the implementation phase.”
