Ryder is celebrating 25 years of its award-winning technician apprenticeship programme and insists high-quality apprentices are needed now more than ever.
Its national apprentice programme was launched in 1994 and since then the rental, contract hire and maintenance provider has employed 245 apprentices, who all undertake the IMI certificate in heavy vehicle maintenance and repair.
Ryder said the success of its apprenticeship programme is down to the pastoral care and support, with each apprentice assigned a one-to-one mentor for three years to coach and support their development.

David Hunt, Ryder vice president and MD said: “Our apprenticeship programme is as important as ever 25 years since its inception and we are very proud of all of our graduates.
“As the transport sector faces its biggest challenges to address vehicle emissions and clean air, attracting and retaining high-quality apprentice technicians positively contributes to the increasingly complex needs of our customer base.”
