Whistl has appointed John Evans the company’s head of legal and Gareth Hughes, procurement, property and fleet director at the operator, to its executive board of management. Evans, who is also company secretary, joined Whistl in 2003. Hughes joined the carrier more recently in 2015. The government’s apprenticeship levy will come into force in April 2017. This means in just four months, companies with a payroll of £3m or more will be paying 0.5% of that cost into a pot, which UK businesses will be able to draw from for staff training.
