South Korean vehicle parts importer SsangYong Motors UK is to lease a new head office at Howard Tenen’s Europa Industrial Park in Swindon as part of a drive into the electric vehicle (EV) market.
Two specific issues have been identified with hydrogen that the truck sector needs to deal with: firstly, the development and construction of efficient fuel cells. Then secondly, the distribution of hydrogen to ensure that trucks can be refuelled safely and quickly.
There is growing support for the view that green hydrogen made with renewable electricity could play a key role in decarbonising heavy road transport, but it should not be seen as a “silver bullet” that will address all the industry’s carbon concerns.
