Millions of pounds of unspent apprenticeship funding is in danger of being diverted into the Treasury’s coffers, with many operators unaware that they can transfer a quarter of their funding to subcontractors to help pay for their apprenticeship schemes. The DfT is asking for feedback on proposals to increase the time required between digital tachograph data downloads to 90 days. Currently the time limit is 56 days, but the increase would align it with Europe. A plan to introduce a clean air zone in Bath, which will cost non-Euro 6 HGVs £100 a day to enter but exempt all cars, has been slammed by the FTA.
Members of the FTA’s Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme (LCRS) are on track to meet their target of an 8% reduction in the carbon intensity of their operations between 2011 and 2015, an FTA conference, Cutting Carbon, Cutting Costs, heard last week (21 May).
