Greenergy, one of the UK’s largest suppliers of transport fuel, is being investigated by the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) concerning “certain aspects” of biodiesel trading. The investigation, which is being carried out jointly by the SFO and Dutch authorities, has seen a number of sites, including five of Greenergy’s UK sites, searched and four individuals arrested and released without charge. FairFuelUK (FFUK) co-founder Howard Cox has said he is “absolutely disgusted” with the Labour Party’s apparent disinterest in the issue of fuel prices, after a fringe event on the subject held at the Labour Party conference in Manchester attracted just a handful of attendants.
FairFuelUK (FFUK) is calling for an investigation into the UK fuel market. FFUK wants the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) to take the issue on, after a report commissioned for G20 Finance Ministers warned oil traders may have been artificially inflating wholesale prices.
