Bedfords Group has been placed into administration and has ceased trading. Howard Smith and David Costley-Wood of KPMG were appointed to handle the insolvency of Bedfords Limited, which trades as Bedfords Group, on March 27. A skeleton staff has been retained to assist the administrator with the insolvency process at its main site in Birstall, West Yorkshire. Palletforce’s recent reorganisation of its East Midlands coverage saw H Beardsley exit the network, to be replaced by Lockwood Haulage and Nelson Distribution. This is the first time these two well-established operators have joined a pallet network as Steve Hobson reports.
Panic Transport has been officially unveiled as a member of Palletforce, making it the fifth Kinaxia Logistics-owned haulier within the pallet network.
The transport and logistics sector is set for a flurry of mergers and acquisitions this year, according to advisory firm KPMG, following a year of subdued activity in 2011.
