Yodel network operations director Carl Moore has replaced chief operating officer Adrian Harris who resigned from the business in January this year, two years after joining the firm.
Moore, who started his career as a van driver at the age of 18, has been promoted to the position of chief operating officer, just five months after arriving at Yodel.
In his new role Moore, whose former posts include executive advisor for network strategy at Fedex/TNT and group operations director at UK Mail, will be tasked with continuing the firm’s strategy to streamline its delivery process and improve its service levels.
In his previous role as Yodel’s network operations director, Moore reported to Harris, who quit his job as Marks and Spencer’s clothing and home logistics director to take up his position as chief operating officer at Yodel in March 2017.
The shake up comes as Yodel, which has an 11% share of the b2c parcels market and operates a fleet of 285 truck and 1200 trailers, struggles to improve its performance in an increasingly competitive parcels sector.
The firm’s latest annual results to June 2017 revealed a pre-tax loss of £82.5m - its biggest pre-tax loss since 2013. The company also warned at the time that its annual results to June 2018, which will be published next month, would also be “challenging.”

Yodel CEO Andrew Peeler said: “Adrian Harris has decided to move on from his position of chief operating officer Yodel. Over the last two years he has been key in driving consistent, high-quality service across the network and we wish him all the best in the future.
"Carl Moore has been promoted to the role of chief operating officer from his position as network operations director. Carl has extensive knowledge and experience of the logistics sector, having spent over 30 years’ in the industry, including 15 years in operations director roles at UPS, UK Mail and ANC Express.
Prior to joining Yodel he was executive advisor for network strategy at FedEx/TNT.
Peeler pointed to Moore's extensive knowledge of the logistics industry as a key factor in his appointment.
He said: "Carl understands the industry from the frontline to the board room. Since joining Yodel in 2018 he has already made significant contributions to Yodel’s strategy and final mile operation and I’m delighted to welcome him to the board, broadening his remit to cover sort and transport.”
