Veolia ES (UK) has been fined £1m after one of its employees was run over and killed by a reversing lorry. Thurso-based haulier W D Cormack & Sons has been fined £8,000 after one of its drivers was left severely injured after falling from a trailer that he was loading.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is looking at ways to reduce maximum pallet weights to 750kg in order to cut the risk of injuries to drivers making tail lift deliveries.
