The DVSA has appointed Becky Thomas as the new director of strategy and policy. The FTA has refuted the European Commission’s claim that logistics firms will save a total of €500m (£447m) through increased efficiencies due to the introduction of a new generation of smart tachographs.
The DVSA has reminded drivers and operators of commercial and public service vehicles that tyres aged over 10 years fitted to front-steered axles will be illegal from 1 February 2021.
Earned recognition is a flagship DVSA scheme designed to drastically reduce the time wasted checking up on compliant operators in order to free up limited enforcement resources to improve road safety by focusing on the seriously and serially non-compliant.
