Renault Trucks has announced plans for a new 122,000sq ft R&D centre in St Priest, Lyon, France. The €33m (£29m) development, designed to use 25% less energy than the French building standard, is scheduled to open in the first half of 2021. Total commercial vehicle registrations fell during 2012, according to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), with Volvo faring the worst across the twelve month period. Registrations from January to December were down 5.9% across truck and vans, with the decline directly attributable to lower light commercial vehicle sales.
