Outdoor clothing and equipment retailer Go Outdoors has taken a 353,000sq ft distribution centre in Middlewich, Cheshire.
The company has signed a five-year lease on the building, which is located on the Midpoint 18 logistics park close to Junction 18 of the M6. The warehouse will be used to support Go Outdoors’ growth plans.
The retailer, which sells products for a wide range of activities including walking, camping, caravanning, cycling, fishing and climbing, currently has 60 stores and an online operation which serves both UK and international customers. It was bought by JD Sports two years ago to complement its Blacks and Millets outdoor chains.
The warehouse was let by Delin Capital Asset Management, a pan-European asset manager and developer which currently owns 1.75 million sq ft of logistics space spread across eight buildings in the UK – part of a total property portfolio of 10 million sq ft across Europe.
Jonathan Gardner, Delin Capital’s head of asset management, commented: “Securing Go Outdoors, an established yet growing UK retailer, is a significant coup for our UK team.”
Midpoint 18 already has a number of major occupiers, including B&M Bargains, Wincanton, Kuehne+Nagel and Optima Logistics.
There are also several development plots being brought forward by a joint venture between Pochin and db symmetry in a scheme called MA6NITUDE. This has planning consent for 1.7 million sq ft in units up to 600,000sq ft and two units of 149,000sq ft and 41,000sq ft are currently being developed speculatively.
