Hermes has opened a new 80,000ft² parcel depot at Prologis Park in Hemel Hempstead ahead of its predicted “busiest peak season to date”. Irish parcels firm Nightline celebrated its 20th year in business with a visit from Ireland’s deputy prime minister Eamon Gilmore. Speaking at the firm’s Dublin headquarters, Gilmore said Nightline’s success during a period of economic uncertainty was due to the company’s “solid foundation” of innovation, commitment and hard work. APC Overnight saw record 30% increase in year-on-year volumes over the Christmas peak, the parcel network said. To keep up with demand, the network increased trunk levels by 35% compared to 2011’s peak figures and fleet numbers increased by 20% across its network of 115 depots.
