Yorkshire duo Magtec and Paneltex are now ready to put their 7.5-tonne electric truck into series production.
The zero-emission truck, which was on show at this week’s Cenex-LCV event at Millbrook, is based on an Isuzu N75 chassis.
It has a payload of 3.4 tonnes, with a range on one charge of between 80 and 140 miles, making it capable of a full day’s typical urban distribution usage.
The battery pack is also rapid-charge ready if a top-up is required.
A variety of bodies can be fitted to the electric truck, from lightweight parcel carriers to cages, dropsides, tippers and refrigerated boxes.
Marcus Jenkins, founder and MD at Sheffield-based Magtec, said: “Concern over air quality in our cities is increasing and Magtec has developed the cutting-edge drive train technologies required to address this problem.
“We are now supplying a fully capable EV truck which can operate for a full day on a single charge.”
Chris Berridge, MD at Hull-based Paneltex, said: “After a long-term development programme, our 7.5 tonne electric trucks are now ready for series production and we believe these vehicles will help drive the decarbonisation of the urban logistics sector.”
In June this year, the Royal Borough of Greenwich announced a trial of the world's first 26-tonne all-electric repowered bin lorry, built by Magtec.
