Government support for Nottingham’s decision to reject plans for a charging clean air zone (CAZ) had opened the door for other cities to follow its example, according to the FTA.
Freight operators are encouraged to take part in Greater Manchester’s Clean Air Plan consultation, which will run for seven weeks.
The FTA is urging local authorities to look beyond the “short-lived” benefits of clean air zones (CAZ) and divert funds into helping operators upgrade their fleets rather than penalising them.
