Dr Martin Read CBE has been appointed chairman of Wincanton with effect from 1 August. Read is currently chairman of two government owned companies – the Low Carbon Contracts Company and the Electricity Settlements Company – as well as the Remuneration Consultants Group and the UK Government Senior Salaries Review Body. Wincanton has won a five year contract with Rolls-Royce, which will see it store and transport generators for the UK armed forces. The firm will store the generators, which are used to power medical and communications equipment, at its shared user warehouse in Middleton, Greater Manchester.
