Meat wholesaler Tican Chilled has refreshed its fleet with eight new Mercedes-Benz Antos trucks, via Ryder. One unit is a long-bodied variant for multi-temperature applications, operating out of Tican’s Boston depot. Lloyd Fraser Group has placed a 55-truck order with rental firm Ryder following a major 3PL contract win with an undisclosed fashion retailer. The order comprises 45 rigids – 16 Daf LF 7.5-tonners and 29 CF 18-tonne box trucks – which will be used on multi-drop delivery work, as well as 10 Renault Premium 44-tonne tractor units, which will be used on overnight trunking runs to the company’s five hubs. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has awarded a four year vehicle supply and maintenance contract to Ryder, worth €30m (£25.4m).
At the CV Show 2014, contract hire and rental giant Ryder announced it was renewing a five year tyre supply contract with Bridgestone, covering most of its fleet of 25,000 vans, trucks and trailers. Ryder has exclusively used Bridgestone rubber for over 20 years, but 2014 was a watershed in the two companies’ relationship, which became a true partnership rather than just a long term supply agreement.
