Whistl has appointed a new operations director, who becomes the third woman on the parcel carrier’s executive board. Fabiola Sharratt joins the mail operator from online health and beauty retailer The HUT, where she was group operations director. Sharratt has held other roles in the logistics sector including jobs with the GUS Group and the Caudwell Group. Having fired the starting gun on the sale of its remaining stake in Royal Mail last week, the government is out of the blocks and has sold 15% of its shareholding to institutional investors.
Ofcom has announced a “fundamental review” into the regulation of Royal Mail, after the withdrawal of Whistl’s final mile delivery service left it without a major competitor in the postal market.
Royal Mail has been fined £50m by Ofcom for a “serious” breach of competition law, in which it abused its dominant market position and deliberately targeted final mile delivery competitor Whistl.
