Women in Logistics has been incorporated into the CILT, and will operate within it as the newly formed Women in Logistics Forum.
Women in Logistics said its current members that elect to join the CILT stand to benefit from additional resources and its global reach.
The forum will continue the work of Women in Logistics by hosting networking and development events to encourage women and female talent within the industry.
Women in Logistics founder Ruth Waring, who will chair the new forum, said: "I am very excited about the incorporation. It provides a huge opportunity to our current and future members to better engage with and understand the sector.”
The CILT said the incorporation of Women in Logistics was central to the body's strategy of promoting diversity and ensuring the industry's jobs are filled by the most able and deserving candidates.
CILT's director of marketing and communications Richard Atkinson said: "The incorporation of Women in Logistics within CILT is both progressive and essential. This is central to our strategy, which includes promoting diversity of thought, inclusivity and advancing the best people for the best jobs."
CILT chief executive Kevin Richardson added: "I am delighted to welcome Women in Logistics as part of the institute. We are looking forward to working closely with the Forum to display a united front and portray our profession as the home of equal opportunities for all genders.”
Founded in 2008, Women in Logistics has nearly 4,000 members around the UK. While those that wish to remain part of the organisation will now have to pay membership to CILT, they will be able to attend its events for no charge.
