TPN member Delsol has doubled its warehousing capacity and is preparing to take on new staff in response to growing demand for its warehousing, fulfilment and pick-and-pack services.
Delsol, which has a fleet of 90 trucks and vans, uses the 80,000ft² warehouse in Sandycroft, Flintshire to store and transport raw materials and collect customers finished products, which are also stored at the warehouse before the company delivers them to its clients’ customers, in the UK and overseas.
Delsol, which employs 127 staff, has also undergone a major restructuring which has seen its international sales team, which was previously split between its depots in Caernarfon and Sandycroft, move into new office space inside the warehouse.
Delsol MD Dave Phillips, who joined the firm last year with a brief to expand the business into new areas, said the expansion is expected to create new jobs at the firm.
He said: “This means they are able to work more effectively as a team and I am expecting that this will be another growth area for the company. We will still have spare office capacity in the new building, which again will allow us to organically grow our other operations - I hope that this will lead to new jobs in the near future.”
Phillips said growth had been rapid at the firm. “We initially took on 40,000ft² last October, which offered us 2,500 racking spaces. However, it was clear that there is a big demand in this area for warehousing, fulfilment and pick-and-pack, so we have taken on a further 40,000ft².
"We now have a total of 5,000 racking spaces, plus some further storage space. In addition we have invested in a new pallet tracking and storage system.”
The company, which is a Hazchem member, stores raw materials, including packaging, plastics, paper, chemicals and metals, as well as the final products for six major customers.
Phillips said: “Essentially, this is a cradle-to-grave solution for companies, as we then pick orders and pack them, with either full containers or part-loads as necessary, and distribute the items through our pallet network or directly to their customers in the UK, Europe and overseas, on our vehicles."
Phillips said the size of the warehouse allows for further expansion with the firm currently in talks with potential new customers.
