Wincanton is to oversee Wickes's HIAB subcontractor network across London in a deal which sees the logistics firm take on the management of six separate sub-contractors.

The sub-contractos operate over 13 store hubs within the M25 and three additional sites outside the capital.

This latest agreement significantly extends the scope of Wincanton’s existing contract with Wickes, which began in February 2017 and involves Wincanton making customer deliveries using its fleet of specialist HIAB delivery vehicles.

Wincanton’s brief under the new agreement is to manage the subcontractor relationships and ensure all processes, from order selection to loading and customer delivery, are consistent and efficient.

Paul Durkin, director of home and DIY at Wincanton, explained: “We have been working with Wickes for just over a year and this new agreement is evidence of our growing partnership.

“Our position in the marketplace, our operational experience and our commitment to safe practice means we are well placed to manage our customers’ subcontractor networks.

“In doing so, we remove the administrative burden for the client, while identifying opportunities for service improvement and cost efficiencies across the supply chain.”

Duncan Kendal, Wickes supply chain director, said: “Wincanton understands our desire to put customer satisfaction at the heart of all we do. The role Wincanton plays undoubtedly supports the growth of our multi-channel business.”
