DPD’s software subsidiary Pie is to launch its London Lorry Route Approver (LLRA) app next month – its first major product update since changing its name from Pie Mapping last year.
The LLRA app will sync direct with Pie’s existing LLRA routing product, which generates HGV compliant routes tailored to vehicle weights and dimensions, avoiding restrictions.
It also uses Mapbox and OpenStreetMap technology to create compliant routes with live traffic conditions and turn-by-turn instructions, as well as send alerts when the driver goes off a London Lorry Control Scheme (LLCS) compliant route.
This eliminates the chance of a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN), an offence that can cost up to £500 for a first time, and £800 or more for a second.

Drivers are able to run the route planning app (pictured) on Android and iOS mobile devices – at an individual charge per user, per month.

DPD acquired Pie Mapping in 2016, changing its name to Pie and appointing Hill as chief executive in March 2017. Over 250 customers currently use LLRA, including Superdrug, Next and Co-op.
