Welch’s Transport saw profit fall in a year with an “uncomfortably high” turnover in operational staff, according to the firm’s latest annual results. Bridgend, South Wales-based John Raymond Transport saw an increase in both turnover and pre-tax profit last year.
Suttons Transport Group parent Thomas Cradley Holdings saw its UK turnover jump almost 10% in the year ended April 2012, from £75.4m to £82.9m. The figure includes a contribution of £63.5m (an increase of 14% year-on-year) from Sutton & Sons (St Helens), the UK road tanker, warehousing and drumming operation of Suttons Transport Group.
