John Hackling (Transport) saw pre-tax profits rise 41% last year, boosted by its newly opened depot in Swindon and Palletline’s decision to base a new regional hub at the depot during the period. Expansion into international distribution should add around £1m a year in turnover this year, Manchester-based operator AK Worthington (AKW) has predicted. Norbert Dentressangle will cease providing warehousing and distribution services to collapsed retail chain Comet from tomorrow (21 December). Last month the operator warned its five-year £100m contract with Comet, which it only signed earlier this year, was in the hands of the retail chain’s administrator Deloitte.
