Transport charity Transaid is hunting for cyclists to join its fundraising 490km ride across Zambia next year.
The Transaid Cycle Zambia 2018 event, which takes place on 21-30 September 2018, will finish at the world-famous Victoria Falls and includes five days of cycling.
Transaid is promising participants the chance to spot impala, hippos, elephants, zebra and hundreds of bird species along the route from Lusaka to Livingstone as well as a sunset cruise along the Zambezi River at the end of the trek.
Multimodal director Robert Jervis, who is the first person to sign up to Cycle Zambia, said: “Inspired by the record-breaking efforts of the Cycle South Africa team earlier this year, I was keen to pick up the gauntlet they had laid down.
“It’s going to be the trip of a lifetime and I’m looking forward to pedalling alongside like-minded transport and logistics industry professionals, raising essential funds for Transaid and working together to achieve something amazing.”
Places are limited, with a quarter of the spaces already filled. Entries can be from both individuals and teams. A £349 registration fee is payable and cyclists are asked to raise a minimum of £3,650 for Transaid.
