Amazon will open a new fulfilment centre in Warrington this autumn and its first dedicated UK receive centre in Coventry in 2018.
The Warrington depot will create 1,200 new permanent jobs whilst the Coventry receive centre, which will act as a central hub to receive and sort millions of Amazon products each year, will take on 1,650 full-time permanent staff.
Roles at both locations will include warehouse operatives and operations managers as well as engineers, HR and IT specialists.
The Warrington centre, which will begin operations in the autumn, is one of four new fulfilment centres to be opened by Amazon in 2017. These include the Daventry fulfilment centre, which opened in February this year, and the Doncaster and Tilbury centres, which will open this autumn.
Amazon said it is increasing the size of its UK fulfilment centre network “to meet increasing customer demands, expand selection and enable SMEs selling on Amazon Marketplace to scale their business”.
Amazon currently has 12 fulfilment centres in the UK, including Doncaster, Coalville in Leicestershire, Daventry, Dunfermline, Dunstable, Gourock, Hemel Hempstead (main image), Manchester, Milton Keynes, Peterborough, Rugeley and Swansea Bay.
