Co-op is to install fuel security firm Tiss’s latest TankSafe Fuel Security and Safety device in its new vehicles. The supermarket is thought to be one of the first UK businesses using the new Impregnable – HF device, which Tiss claims prevents any siphoning, skimming or spillage of fuel from HGVs. Grocer Co-op has launched a new online delivery service using electric cargo bikes to transport goods from local stores to consumers within two hours.
Hermes is rolling its click and collect ParcelShop service out to more than 450 Co-operative stores after a trial with the retailer.
The Co-operative Group has confirmed that a significant number of staff will take redundancy, following its move to consolidate two DCs. Its Wellington, Somerset and Portbury, Bristol DCs will merge into a new £20m regional distribution centre at Avonmouth.
