MAN Truck and Bus has appointed Thomas Hemmerich as MD Simon Elliott’s replacement, ahead of the latter’s departure in January. Former MAN Truck and Bus UK CEO Des Evans has joined Axis Fleet Management as a non-executive director.
Sir Peter Hendy, commissioner at TfL, opened the fourth meeting of the Construction Logistics and Cycle Safety (Clocs) initiative with an admission: “I did not expect this activity to grow as quickly as it has.” He added later in his keynote speech: “You all work on relatively thin margins but you’re bursting with ideas about how to make things safer.”
FMCG specialist Fowler Welch has ordered 130 MAN TGXs, in a deal that will see around one-third of its three year-old Volvo fleet replaced. Included in the predominantly Euro-5 order are five Euro-6 tractors with the same specification. These will be run as part of a wider trial to assess comparative performance and cost-efficiencies.
