John Mitchell (Grangemouth) has reported a significant rise in profit after cost-control measures and a focus on its warehousing arm. For the year ending 31 March, the haulage and warehousing business recorded a turnover largely static compared with last year, at £13.2m. Scottish hauliers have expressed fears for the viability of their businesses following the revelation that they would have to pay to use UK roads if Scotland votes for independence.
Lockwood Haulage reported a 3.7% increase in turnover last year, which it attributed to investments in its fleet and its warehouse capacity.
