Suckling Transport delivered an 8% rise in pre-tax profit in the year to 31 December 2015, according to its latest annual results.

Pre-tax profit was £1.3m (2014: £1.2m) with turnover up 2.5% to £19.9m (2014: £19.4m).

Suckling Transport said growth had been driven by maintaining its long-term customer base whilst adding short-term and spot-hire

customers, as well as expanding its business geographically (TankShare, its spot-hire business, opened sites in Bedworth and Teesside during the

year).

A spokesman for Suckling said it had continued to build its fleet, following a procurement review last autumn that was aimed at increasing fleet fuel efficiency and competitiveness.

This has seen 13 Scania P-series tankers, 20 MAN TGS tractor units and 15 tanker trailers from Cobo and Lakeland added to its fleet.

The new combinations have also been liveried with the firm’s new slogan “Flexible resources to keep you moving”, which was launched this year.

Suckling Transport said the new vehicles will support TankShare, which it said is experiencing rapid growth that has resulted in the opening of new TankShare operations in the Midlands and North East this year.

However, the company warned that its target sector “remains competitive with market forces dictating the need for cost efficiencies, flexibility, and a high standard of safety and service performance”.
