Suckling Transport delivered an 8% rise in pre-tax profit in the year to 31 December 2015, according to its latest annual results. Pre-tax profit was £1.3m (2014: £1.2m) with turnover up 2.5% to £19.9m (2014: £19.4m). Suckling Transport said growth had been driven by maintaining its long-term customer base whilst adding short-term and spot-hire customers, as well as expanding its business geographically (TankShare, its spot-hire business, opened sites in Bedworth and Teesside during the year). Wincanton is trialling four low-level access tankers that is says will improve driver safety, and boost both its environmental credentials and vehicle utilisation. The “game changer” side manway design, which has been developed with manufacturer Feldbinder, provides side access to the silo tanker. Wincanton said the design combines the benefits of both tipping and silo tanks by reducing the potential dangers, while also offering around a 5% payload benefit compared to tipping tanks.
