Turners (Soham) has added its 600th specialised Daf FTP to its fleet. The 440hp XF tractor with a lightweight mid-lift axle joins Turners’ 1,750-strong fleet. Turners is believed to be the largest operator of Daf FTP trucks worldwide. The Daf, purchased via dealership Chassis Cab, will cover more than 100,000km a year. Salford Van Hire has embarked on a vehicle buying spree, with the purchase of more than 300 new units for its fleet.
The threat of a tanker driver strike could now be averted, as the Unite union and fuel distribution companies reach agreement over a new set of proposals. Unite has also been given an extended industrial action mandate of 21 May to allow it time to discuss the new proposals with its 1,200 tanker driver members.
