Deutsche Post DHL has reached an agreement to buy UK Mail, in a deal that values the delivery company at £242.7m. DHL Express has transported more than 1,100 pieces of equipment and instruments for 15 US high schools and university marching bands to participate in the London New Year’s Day Parade. DHL collected tubas, snare drums, trumpets, saxophones, trombones and other musical instruments from each participating school, and loaded them onto special aircraft containers to be transported to the DHL Gateway at JFK Airport in New York. DX Group sales and marketing director Paul Doble has warned that online retailers are in danger of overwhelming capacity on their distribution networks in the run up to Christmas. Financial services firm Experian has predicted a 36% rise in online retail visits today and Doble said retailers should re-assess their delivery capabilities.
