John Hayes has taken responsibility for freight and logistics following a reshuffle at the DfT, replacing Andrew Jones.

The MP for South Holland and The Deepings will also be responsible for Highways England as well as the environment and technology.

Hayes was previously a transport minister between July 2014 and May 2015 and was most recently at the Home Office.

Andrew Jones only took on the freight brief in May 2015, replacing Claire Perry, who was in the role for even less time.

Jones remains at the department and is responsible for motoring agencies, such as the DVSA, as well as overseeing road and vehicle safety standards.

The changes follow the appointment of Chris Grayling, who replaced Patrick McLoughlin as transport secretary in July.
