More than 40 drivers at Allied Bakeries’ Saltney DC are facing redundancy, after the baker confirmed this week it is to close the depot in November as part of an overhaul of its distribution network. Redhead International has officially opened its new depot in Northern Ireland’s Mallusk. The opening ceremony on 27 July was performed by Northern Ireland’s executive minister for regional development, Danny Kennedy. The dispute between Eddie Stobart and Unite threatens to run and run, after the union rejected the operator’s latest improved redundancy offer.
