The Freight in the City Expo 2016 seminar programme is now live online, with an impressive line-up of industry speakers from across the UK sharing best practice in sustainable urban logistics.
Taking place on 2 November at London’s Alexandra Palace, Freight in the City is an essential event for anyone involved with delivering or receiving goods into city centres, or looking for more sustainable ways to handle urban servicing operations, such as refuse collection.
Deputy London mayor for transport, Val Shawcross, will open the seminar programme with a keynote speech about new mayor Sadiq Khan’s vision for a cleaner, safer, less congested capital and the role freight can play in this.
This will be followed by a look at some of the major projects underway in the capital, such as TfL’s LoCity and the West End Partnership Freight Programme, as well as a talk from the FTA exploring key challenges operators face delivering into London.
Session two will focus heavily on air quality targets and encouraging uptake of ultra-low-emission vehicles, featuring trials underway across Europe in the FREVUE project, as well as Fife Council’s use of world first hydrogen dual-fuel refuse vehicles on its urban routes.
Safer trucks and compliance will take centre stage in session three. Seminars include a look at the latest research underway in TfL’s Safer Trucks Programme, urban legal issues discussed by transport law specialists Backhouse Jones and the RHA examining the business case for operators to switch to ultra-low-emission vehicles.
The final seminar session of the day will focus around retiming activities across the UK, including a look at out-of-hours best practice and the importance of working in collaboration with customers and local authorities.
A panel of industry experts will be on hand to conclude the programme and answer any questions you might have about the topics discussed throughout the day.
In between all seminar sessions, plenty of time has built in for delegates to browse the two-hall exhibition of urban vehicles, equipment and services and to network with peers.
