Samworth Brothers Supply Chain driver Matthew Pickering has been named the FTA’s Truck Driver of the Year 44-tonne 2016, following a hard-fought contest.
He beat 19 other finalists at Mercedes-Benz Wentworth Park, Barnsley, in a range of tests including driving skills, manoeuvring ability, risk awareness and legislative knowledge, to lift the trophy.
In the 18-tonne category, Total Foodservice Solution driver David West took the top prize.
