Maritime Transport has signed a contract with international freight handler Allport Cargo Services, following 12 month trial. The deal will see Maritime dedicate 44 of its vehicles to the Allport contract, distributed between its Southampton, Tamworth, Manchester and Doncaster depots. The contracted work will begin next month. City Link failed to turn a profit on Friday posting a pre-tax loss of £26.4m while turnover for the year was up 4.8% to £321.7m. Rentokil was disappointed and said the “financial performance in the year was behind our initial expectations”.
