Maritime Transport has signed a contract with international freight handler Allport Cargo Services, following 12 month trial. The deal will see Maritime dedicate 44 of its vehicles to the Allport contract, distributed between its Southampton, Tamworth, Manchester and Doncaster depots. The contracted work will begin next month. Tesco is to close two of its distribution centres in the UK, bringing all warehouse operations carried out by DHL Supply Chain and Wincanton in-house, as part of a long-term plan to “simplify” its distribution operations.
