Wincanton has renewed its long-standing contract with Sainsbury’s, in a deal that will see the companies’ relationship reach the 25 year mark.

Wincanton operates four DCs for the supermarket, in Greenford, West London, Northampton and Sherburn.

The operator also moves Sainsbury’s cargo from UK ports to its DCs across the country.

The companies have worked together for 21 years, and the latest renewal will last for “up to five years”.

Wincanton has also run the warehousing and distribution for Sainsbury’s Local stores across London since 2012, which operates out of a fifth DC in Thameside.

Wincanton chief executive Adrian Colman said: “The renewed contract is testament to the strength of our relationship and the shared vision Wincanton has with its clients to add value and deliver excellent service.

“Sainsbury’s has been a key client of ours for over 21 years already and we are thrilled to see this long-standing relationship develop further.”
