Downton-Sapa

CM Downton has continued its winning streak, securing a three-year contract extension worth £12m with aluminium extrusion producer Sapa Profiles UK.

This latest win closely follows the firm’s award of a new contract with global paper and packaging company Saica in May.

The company also won a hat-trick of deals in February, worth around £3.5m a year, with Holmen Paper, Norske Skog and RPC Promens.

The Sapa Profiles UK contract renewal, worth around £4m a year, was clinched by CM Downton after a retendering process which saw the firm face down fierce competition from rival logistics firms.

Under the new contract, CM Downton will strengthen the operational support team, with seven members of staff operating out of three of Sapa’s facilities.

CM Downton will also continue to run all of Sapa Profiles UK’s national distribution, delivering from four main sites in Cheltenham, Tibshelf, Redditch and Birtley, to the firm’s nationwide customer base.

The firm will also continue to run the inter-site transfer operation and handle shunting at three of the main sites.

Andy Downton, MD of CM Downton, said: “Sapa Profiles UK has been a key Downton client for over six years. It is a successful partnership that has strengthened with every passing year.”

Yann Beck, MD of Sapa Profiles UK, said: “The Downton team has continually delivered an exceptional service where they are often the face of our business when the customer is in receipt of goods.”
