Ofcom is concerned that Royal Mail could potentially cross-subsidise its parcels operation through its letters business, as its market share and delivery network is much more established in the latter. TNT Post says it has secured a “great coup” after revealing details of a contract it began work on in February to deliver mail for Tesco. As a result TNT Post, which demerged from parent TNT NV in May 2011, will deliver all of Tesco’s communications with its customers – totaling some 180 million item a year – including its Clubcard scheme and Tesco Bank.
