DX Group has been refused planning permission for its proposed super hub in Essington, Staffordshire.

The planned £63m hub was rejected by the local authority planning committee at a hearing last night (17 May).

The company said in a statement that it was now considering its options, including an appeal against the decision, with its planning and property advisers.

DX Group intended to move its headquarters and 400 staff from its current base in Willenhall to the 44-acre site. However this has been opposed by local residents.

Around 80 residents protested at the Hobnock Road site last September.

DX Group last week acquired legal document exchange firm The Legal Post (Scotland) and downstream access mail service First Post for £3.25m.
