driver year

The shortlist for the second Microlise Driver of the Year Awards has been released ahead of the award ceremony later this month.

The list of 24 drivers includes three finalists in each of the categories. Awards for Short, Medium and Long Distance Driver of the Year will be given out, as they were in the awards’ inaugural year at last year’s Microlise conference.

This year’s competition also introduces a series of new categories, including Extra Mile; HGV Hero; Lifetime Achievement; Most Improved; and Young Driver.

Each finalist will be invited to attend a Porsche track day, in conjunction with MAN Truck and Bus.

The drivers come from a range of companies, including B&Q, Samworth Brothers Supply Chain (which employs last year’s winner, Alan Marsh) and CM Downton.

The shortlists for the short, medium and long distance categories come from analysis of driver performance data from across the Microlise telematics platform, compiled from more than 100,000 individual drivers.

RHA chief executive Richard Burnett was on this year’s judging panel. “The judging was tough this year with so many strong entries and a lot of extremely skilled drivers with A grade Microlise reports.”

“The role that drivers play often goes unrecognised and we are pleased to once again be supporting the Microlise Driver of the Year Awards as they shine a light on the brightest performers in our industry,” he said.

The winners will be announced on 18 May at the Microlise Transport Conference, which will take place at the Ricoh Arena.
